Nuclear Scinitgraphy

nuclear scintigraphyNuclear Scintigraphy is a highly sensitive means of diagnostic imaging that highlights areas of increased cellular turn over that is often consistent with areas of musculoskeletal injury.

Advantages are that large anatomic regions including the neck, back and pelvis, or the entire horse can be scanned under one study. It may serve as a screening or localizing exam.

The images do not offer the same detail as digital radiographs, so sometimes additional imaging is required of areas identified by scintigraphy.
