Littleton Equine Medical Center is pleased to announce the addition of board-certified surgeon Dustin V. Devine, DVM, MS, DACVS to its staff of dedicated practitioners. Dr. Devine joins LEqMC's other board-certified surgeon, Dr. Melinda Story, and he will be sharing both routine and emergency case loads with her and with Scott Toppin, DVM, DABVP. |
Dr. Devine's youthful appearance belies the impressive list of accomplishments and practical experience garnered in his nine years as a practitioner, surgical specialist, and university professor. He completed his veterinary degree in 2002, graduating from Oklahoma State University. Following graduation, he completed an internship in referral equine medicine and surgery at Peterson & Smith Equine Hospital in Ocala, Florida. In 2003, Dr. Devine returned to Oklahoma State University to complete a three-year residency in equine surgery, and in addition, simultaneously earned his Master of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences. Prior to joining LEqMC, Dr. Devine held the position of Assistant Professor of Equine Surgery for his alma mater. While at Oklahoma State, he taught several courses including Clinical Anatomy, Advanced Equine Medicine, Surgery, and managed the Equine Surgery Clinical Rotation. Additionally, he served as examiner for the Clinical Proficiency exam in Equine Surgery. His continuing research interest and focus centers on laparoscopic surgical technique and local anesthetic interactions and delivery systems. He has written several abstracts, published numerous research papers for well-known medical journals, and has presented at veterinary symposiums and annual conferences around the nation. He is currently participating in at least ten funded and non-funded research projects covering issues from physiological effects of pharmaceuticals (most notably anticancer agents) to advanced arthroscopic surgical techniques. "We are pleased to have Dr. Devine join our practice," states Littleton Equine President Kelly Tisher, DVM. "He will provide a welcome addition and complement our already accomplished and experienced surgical staff. We are excited about the future and the ability to continue to offer horse owners in the Rocky Mountain Region with the finest in equine care, and contribute to their ongoing health and wellness." We hope you'll join all of us at Littleton Equine in welcoming Dr. Devine to Colorado, and we invite your inquiries and encourage you to stop by and meet with him. |
