Press Release
Veterinary Technician Week
October 11, 2011

As members of the veterinary healthcare team, veterinary technicians are educated in the latest medical advances and skilled at working alongside veterinarians to give pets, exotic and companion animals, livestock, and equine athletes the best medical care possible. They work closely with veterinarians, veterinary assistants, practice managers, patients, and owners to provide the essential link among all involved in the care process.

The National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America, Inc. (NAVTA) has proclaimed October 9-15, 2011 to be National Veterinary Technician Week. “Technicians are in integral part of the veterinary healthcare team,” says NAVTA Communications Director Sandy Sponaugle, “and celebrating National Veterinary Technician Week gives them the credit they deserve. It also provides an opportunity to teach the public about what veterinary technicians do on a daily basis.” This annual event recognizes veterinary technicians for their contributions to animal healthcare.

Littleton Equine Medical Center is proud to have on its staff 19 certified veterinary technicians, each of whom has undergone rigorous medical training, has completed an internship in a veterinary practice, and has qualified for and successfully passed a national board exam prior to being employed by us. Collectively, our technicians have over 120 years of technical experience in the laboratory, the field, in surgery, anesthesia, intensive care, pharmaceuticals, diagnostic imaging, and client service. Our technicians are dedicated to their career and are active members of professional organizations such as the Colorado Association of Certified Veterinary Technicians (CACVT), American Association of Equine Veterinary Technicians (AAEVT), and the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America. Each of these organizations promote the highest level of continuing education, advancements in technology, and excellence in veterinary medicine ensuring that LEqMC’s technicians remain highly qualified and in step with the evolving demands of the equine industry. Many of our technicians have presented equine topics and spoken at national conferences such as Western Veterinary Conference, American Association of Equine Practitioners Conference, North American Veterinary Conference as well as many regional events.

Littleton Equine Medical Center is proud of our technicians, their accomplishments, and their contribution to your horse’s care!
